
Monica has been teaching in the Ottawa area for 27 years. Before opening the Canadian School of Dance in 1986, Monica performed with the Ottawa Dance Theatre, Ontario Ballet Theatre and in the Canadian Opera Company’s production of ‘The Merry Widow” and “Rinaldo” with Marilyn Horne. Her training was with the National Ballet School, The Canadian School of Ballet and the Canadian College of Dance at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. Monica attended summer schools at Les Grands Ballet Canadien and the Banff School of Fine Arts. She was instrumental in the Canadian School of Dance receiving the Youth Achievement Award in 1988.

Fran has been teaching in the Ottawa area for over 25 years. Her early training with the founders of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB) prepared her to attend renowned summer schools at the RWB and The Banff School of Fine Arts before graduating from the Canadian College of Dance at Ryerson Theatre School. Having danced professionally for several years she decided to open the Canadian School of Dance to pursue teaching and pass on the passion for dance she herself enjoyed as a child. Her love for technical precision in training has pushed many of her students to reach the highest of achievements in their careers. Ms. Coyle’s award winning choreography has received many accolades and most recently (July 2011) was the recipient of the ‘Gloria Jean Cuming Award of Excellence’ at the American Dance Awards National competition in Boston for the Junior level (10-12), as well as a nomination for the ‘Choreographer of the Year’. Fran has the bragging rights as being the only Ottawa studio with three successful R.A.D. Solo Seal Award candidates.

Certified in the ADV. A.D.A.P.T teaching syllabus for both Jazz and Tap – Dana has shared her extensive knowledge of this superior training technique with CSD students for the past 20 years. As a choreographer in all of tap, jazz , lyrical and contemporary, her accolades are substantial, however, it is her undeniable passion and motivating teaching style that have inspired and influenced her students both in the Art of Dance and as people. Her students have moved on to perform in many capacities throughout the dance industry and many more have opted to share their love of dance as they teach and choreograph throughout Canada. Besides taking top honours several times at both the regional and International levels competitively, her award winning choreography has most recently been acknowledged at The American Dance Awards National competition, Boston MA., by her receiving ‘The Rosemarie Boyden Memorial Award’ for overall 9 and under Dance Off winner. One of three choreography awards for the 12 and under division was also awarded as well as a nomination for the prestigious, 2011 ADA’s Choreographer of the Year.
